Cookie Paleontologists

Today, we continued exploring paleontology as we become Cookie Paleontologists ourselves!
Thank you for completing the first portion of this flipped lesson at home.  The learners were very eager to share their knowledge today!

We began by brainstorming tools that we could use to extract as many chocolate chips as possible from a chocolate chip cookie!
We decided to use a toothpick, a q tip, paintbrushes, and all five of our senses!

We decided that a toothpick was the most helpful tool because of its sharp points.

After our extractions, we graphed the number of chocolate chips that each learner successfully removed from their cookie!
We had a great time, and especially loved eating a chocolate chip cookie at the end of the day!

Loving Our Landforms

I am so proud of our learners for working so hard on their "Loving Our Landforms" flipped lesson!
The students came to school today with so much knowledge about caves, mountains, and glaciers!
We took the knowledge they learned about landforms on Pebble Go and sculpted landforms out of play dough.

We created some wonderful caves!  They were complete with bats, snakes, and crabs living inside!

We also created majestic mountains!

Aren't these beautiful glaciers?

A winding river!

A volcano ready to erupt at any time!

Wondrous valleys!

Expansive plains!

After creating the landforms out of play dough, we created various landforms using...you guessed it!  Our bodies!
Check out this mountain!

A deep valley.

A beautiful river!

Another valley!

Great cave!

Tall mountain!

Deep valley!

Mountain peaks!

The wide mouth of a cave.

An animal is using this cave as its habitat.

Such a long river!

We had fun exploring with landforms today!
We're looking forward to another great day of learning tomorrow!

High Tech High Touch

We had so much fun when High Tech High Touch visited all of the Kindergarteners with a hands-on learning experience all about Weather!
We made our own test tube clouds!

We had a wonderful scientist leading us through all of our experiments!

We made our own tornadoes!  This was one of the learner's favorite activities!

 How cool is this!

We had so much fun learning all about different types of weather!
Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this special event!
