Happy Valentine's Day from 1D!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day in 1D!
We made Valentine artwork to give our parents on this special day, created graphs using conversation hearts as our data, and ended our day with a fabulous party!

Valentine's Day was perfect in 1D!

High Touch High Tech

After a busy morning of celebrating the 100th day of school, we moved on to more fun with science!
High Touch High Tech, a hand-on science program, came to visit our first graders.
We traveled in our imaginations to California in search of precious rocks!

We worked hard at the river to clean our rocks.

After our rocks were cleaned and bagged, it was time to move back to the classroom to observe the rocks we found.
We studied our findings carefully with magnifying glasses.

We sorted our rocks and experimented to see which rocks were magnetic.

We even used tweezers to carefully drop our rocks in a special acid and observe each rock's reaction.

What a fabulous Friday!
We'll be learning more about pebbles, sand, silt, and rocks this week in class!
Be sure to ask your first grader all about it!

100th Day of School

Can you believe that Friday was the 100th day of school?
We had a fun time celebrating our 100th day!
We made snacks using ten different items of ten different kinds of food.  That's 100 items in our snack!

We also played Bingo using all 100 numbers on a hundreds chart.

The most popular activity of the day was putting together 100-piece puzzles!

We also flipped coins 100 times and recorded how many times our coins landed on heads and how many times they landed on tails.
 Happy 100th Day from 1D!

Field Trip Flashback

I couldn't resist posting pictures from our field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo on our new blog!
We had so much fun and these pictures bring back some fun memories!
Enjoy!
