High Touch High Tech

After a busy morning of celebrating the 100th day of school, we moved on to more fun with science!
High Touch High Tech, a hand-on science program, came to visit our first graders.
We traveled in our imaginations to California in search of precious rocks!

We worked hard at the river to clean our rocks.

After our rocks were cleaned and bagged, it was time to move back to the classroom to observe the rocks we found.
We studied our findings carefully with magnifying glasses.

We sorted our rocks and experimented to see which rocks were magnetic.

We even used tweezers to carefully drop our rocks in a special acid and observe each rock's reaction.

What a fabulous Friday!
We'll be learning more about pebbles, sand, silt, and rocks this week in class!
Be sure to ask your first grader all about it!
