Penguin Flipped Classroom Lesson

Our first Flipped Classroom Lesson was a success!
Thank you for working with your learners at home to research penguins!
We used the information that the students found at home and created life size Adelie, African, King, and Emperor penguins!  We used the measurements that the learners located to measure and mark the height of each different penguin.  The students then located pictures of their penguin and used the pictures to illustrate their penguin as closely to the actual picture as possible.

Once our penguins were complete, we measured them with several different types of non standard units such as unifix cubes, paper clips, pencils, and popsicle sticks.
Each one of our penguins is standing in the hallway now and we had fun seeing which penguin we were the closest in heighth with.

  1. Fantastic! I am taking a class in Blended Learning and am the only kindergarten teacher in it! I'm busy researching how other teachers are flipping in the early grades. :) I would LOVE to know more about your assignment. This is so kinder-appropriate! Well done!
